CBP PhilosophyCBP Philosophy
At the CBP® Spine Center, our Chiropractic Philosophy is based on four priniciples of health:

• The human body has the ability to heal itself.

• The Nervous System controls ALL body functions & processes including healing.

• The structure of the spine influences the function of the Nervous System.

• Abnormal spine structure can affect the Nervous System and affect your health.

The above four health principles based firmly in science. Thus our philosophy (love of knowledge) is founded in knowledge of the science of the human body. Almost every nerve in your body must pass through your spine.

Normally, the spine surrounds and protects the nerves and spinal cord. But when the spine becomes improperly aligned, the spine can cause pressure, stretching, or irritation to the nerves. CBP® Spine Center doctors call this irritation nerve interference.
This interference can lead to many abnormal health conditions such as:

• Recurring Headaches

• Neck and shoulder Pain

• Pain in the Upper Back

• Arm or Hand Pain

• Hand or Finger Numbness

• Energy Loss or Chronic Fatigue

• Low Back Pain

• Leg Pain or Sciatica

• Leg Numbness or Weakness

• Loss of Sleep

Note: Studies have shown that CBP® treatment can improve many of these conditions in many people. Unfortunately, some individuals may not improve under care, in such instances; referral to the appropriate specialist may be needed.

CBP ArtCBP Art   Back to Top
Simply put, the art of the CBP® Spine Center is the application of our science and philosophy. In other words, Art is how we treat your specific spinal problem. Here at the CBP® Spine Center, we are very proud to say that we are different from other chiropractors, for example:

1) We use specific postural adjustments, which are precisely tailored for each individual’s abnormal posture; we don’t do the same thing to every patient, every time.

2) Specific exercises match each patient to correct muscular abnormalities and further correct your posture.

3) Gentle, safe, and effective traction is used to slowly mold the spine into a normal position. Again this is specific to each patient.

4) Manual therapy, stretching, and massage to prepare the soft tissues for rehabilitation.

5) Ice and heat to decrease inflammation or swelling.

6) Ergonomic and postural advice and counseling.
Adjustments, Exercise, and Traction

Each of these three areas distinguish the CBP® Spine Center from other chiropractic offices. These three are very important for treating spinal abnormalities.

Adjustment: The spinal adjustments improve motion in the joints, they reduce muscle spasm and stop or reduce pain. The adjustments can be applies to any movable joint in the body.

Exercise: Spinal adjustments alone are not enough to correct spinal abnormalities. The adjustments give temporary relief but do not make long term changes by themselves. Our muscles hold the spinal bones in position.

In order to properly correct these abnormal positions, the muscles must be retrained into the normal position. This retraining will help insure the maintenance of the corrected position.
In Figure 12, two different types (there are again, many, many types) of postural corrective exercises are shown. These exercises are specific to a patient’s abnormal spinal position and need to be performed on a regular basis to ensure correction.

Traction: Many patients are surprised that they need spinal/postural traction. Typically, people think traction is being pulled or stretched up, or vertically. However, the traction we utilize in our unique clinic is very different and highly specific.

Traction can be applied to any part of the spine and in a variety of different directions. Traction helps to stretch shortened spinal ligaments and muscles, creating long-lasting change. Properly applied traction will remodel your spine towards normal.

Dr. Haas’ research organization, CBP Non-Profit, Inc. has developed several different types of spinal traction for Chiropractic/Rehabilitative use. Figure 13 shows an example of lower back traction.

The traction utilized by CBP® Spine Center is approved by the FDA.
